What are the differences between Aspen Cove Assisted Living and larger facilities?Aspen Cove Assisted Living offers a warm, personalized environment in our brand-new, 11-bed home, nestled in a quiet subdivision. Unlike larger, more institutional facilities, our smaller setting allows us to create a truly home-like atmosphere where each resident receives individualized care and attention.

What is assisted living?A housing option which includes 4 levels of assisted living facilities within the state of Texas. We are a Type B facility which means our residents may require staff assistance to evacuate, may be incapable of following directions under emergency conditions, may require attendance during nighttime sleeping hours or may require assistance in transferring to and from a wheelchair but are not permanently bedfast. Assisted Living facilities are designed for those who need extra help in their day-to-day lives but who do not require the 24-hour skilled medical nursing care found in traditional nursing homes.

Do Medicare pay for Assisted Living Care?Medicare does not pay for Assisted Living.

What forms of payment does your facility accept?We are a private pay facility and do not accept insurance payments. We only accept payments in the form of cash, credit card, or ACH transfer, billed directly to the responsible party as indicated on the agreement form.

Do Long Term Care policies pay for Assisted Living care?Long-Term Care policies typically include an Assisted Living benefit that pays directly to the policyholder, rather than to the assisted living facility

What is Aspen Cove's assessment criteria for an Assisted Living resident?"Our Assisted Living assessment process includes an initial visit with the prospective resident, a tour of our facility, and a review of the resident’s financial documentation and medical records from their physician. Additionally, our registered nurse conducts a pre-assessment at the potential resident’s current residence. During this assessment, we evaluate the individual’s ability to perform daily tasks such as getting up in the morning, dressing independently, and moving to and from the dining area. In accordance with state regulations, Aspen Cove Assisted Living is not permitted to accept or retain residents who require daily services from a staff nurse.

What happens when my family member needs a higher level of care?Aspen Cove team members are in frequent communication with the responsible parties of residents about their loved one’s condition and the care they need. If a resident begins to require a level of care beyond what is available at Aspen Cove, the staff will work with the resident and responsible party on a transition to a higher level of care on our campus. Unless it is an emergency situation, there is generally a transition period within which the family members of the resident and the resident will have the opportunity to determine the next best fit for them. When a resident is transferring to a higher level of care on campus, the 30-day notice requirement is waived.

What level of care does your facility provide?Our assisted living facility provides personalized care tailored to the needs of each resident. This includes assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and mobility support. We also offer comprehensive meal services, housekeeping, social and recreational activities, and coordination of medical appointments and transportation. Our goal is to ensure a supportive and comfortable environment that promotes the well-being and independence of our residents

What is the next step or level of care following Assisted Living?Depending upon the care needs of the resident, the next level of care could be Memory Support or Skilled Nursing.

Can over-the-counter medications be administered by anyone in your facility?No, over-the counter medications can only be administered by our RN.

Who is responsible for administering medications in your facility?Our registered nurse (RN) provides training and delegates medication administration responsibilities to our caregivers. Caregivers ensure that residents receive the correct medications at the prescribed times and dosages, while our RN continuously monitors this process through our electronic medication administration record (eMAR) software 24/7, complemented by regular on-site visits to assess residents’ health. Caregivers are also attentive to any potential adverse reactions and promptly report their observations to the nursing staff. Additionally, they offer emotional support during medication administration, helping to build trust and comfort for our residents.

Can a resident's family member administer their medication in your facility?No, family members are not allowed to administer medication to any resident of Aspen Cove. This responsibility falls on our trained staff members. However, family members can support and assist with medication management, such as organizing and updating the medication list and communicate with our staff members.

Are herbal preparations considered medications in your facility?Yes, herbal preparations, vitamins, and other supplements are considered medications and should be included in the resident’s medication management plan from the resident's primary care physician.

Do you have nails care for residents?Our salon is always available for residents to schedule an appointment with their preferred nail specialist free of charge.

Do you have hair care for residents?Our salon is always available for residents to schedule hair care appointments with their preferred stylist free of charge.
